Sotogrande is not a real town or village, but much more a luxury estate resort. The development of Sotogrande started back in the 1960's.

Sotogrande is approximately 75 minutes drive from Malaga’s international airport, 20 minutes from Estepona, and 25 minutes drive from Gibraltar. The resort is a luxury location set around a wonderful marina with bars and fine restaurants at the waters edge. There are also exclusive beach clubs and designer shops. The marina originally built in 1987 and extended now, all with facilities of a first class yachting harbor. Sotogrande is undergoing constant improvement and development.

The main area of Sotogrande that is popular with tourists is the port. In the port is the beach club where visitors have access to the swimming pools, bars and restaurants. There is an adult’s only area as well as a children's area with its own pool. Tapas bars, cafés, restaurants, and boutiques are the central focal points of the marina.

Sotogrande is an excellent and safe place for trying out new water sports such as waterskiing, jet-skiing, and sailing with excellent supervision. There are also facilities for tennis, swimming, and water sports. Sotogrande one of the most attractive sporting complexes on the Costa del Sol which has attracted a large number of foreign residents

The beaches in Sotogrande are much more authentic and rustic, which just expresses the charm of the resort. The resort is a mini paradise and the perfect location for people simply wanting to relax. The undeveloped beaches are of a natural beauty, enclosed by sand dunes and green fields and vast expanses of marshlands that border Guardiaro River.

Sotogrande has so much more to offer, for examle tennis clubs, paddle tennis courts, volleyball, fitness club, horse riding, the beach clubs with windsurfing, kid surf, jet skiing, the Casino Nuevo San Roque.
