Puerto Banus is only 5-6 km west of Marbella, and being under the Municipality of Marbella. Puerto Banus now attracts over 5 million people every year. In the centre of Puerto Banus is a huge marble square, close to El Corte Ingles department store. Here everyone enjoys the sun and can have a drink in the outside bars, surrounded by fountains.
Puerto Banús is synonymous with wealth, fashion, glamorous parties and the highlife and nightlife. Its reputation is high-class and high-price. The “place to be and to be seen”, this is where the elite and would-be-famous are to be found.
But this is only half of the reality. From the 5 million visitors only a few hundred are actually famous and very rich. Fact is: Everybody, young and old, people with small and large budgets, and in the winter also countless retired Spaniards visit Puerto Banus and enjoy everything there is on offer.
The marina is home to large, expensive yachts and also to smaller boats. On the promenade and the small back streets you can find countless restaurants and cafés, designer boutiques and shops as well as a whole variety of other businesses. There are pubs, clubs, world-class shopping and casino facilities as well. But again: there are also cheap shops as well as bars and restaurants for the smaller budgets.
Countless families, couples and individuals come to Puerto Banus, for shopping at the Corte Ingles, Marina Banus shopping center, and the Cristamar shopping center. Others just come for a relaxing time away from home, with plenty of sunshine and entertainment.
The beach to the north of the town and is called Playa Levante. This beach has a golden sand that gets cleaned every night during the summer months.
