Note: We collected the information from several sources and Telefónica Directory. If you see any error or want to make an entry, please let us know: This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it . http://www.nabss.org/ You may want to consider an International School for your kids. Some of these schools have boarding facilities. Some schools offer a system of English and Spanish curricula which enables students to be qualified for either Spain, or the UK, or any other country. Some International Schools offer the International Baccalaureate which is the internationally recognised qualification for Europe. It is now becoming acceptable to many nation’s universities, including special higher educational institutions. There’s a wide range of private schools in Spain and a variety of foreign schools such as German, Swiss, Swedish, Norwegian, French, American, British and other nationality schools. Most private schools in Spain are co-educational and many are bilingual. Most private schools operate a Monday to Friday timetable. Private schools in Spain teach a variety of syllabi, including the British GCSE and A-level examinations, the American High School Diploma and college entrance examinations, the International Baccalaureate (IB) and the Spanish Bachillerato. Most Spanish private schools, schools teaching entirely in Spanish, are state-subsidized and follow the Spanish state-school curriculum. Some international schools are also subsidized and follow a totally bi-lingual (English/Spanish) curriculum and are authorized to accept Spanish pupils. They must teach the Spanish curriculum including primary and secondary education, and the Bachillerato. They provide the opportunity for children to become completely bi-lingual and to choose between a Spanish and English-language university career. Private International Colleges throughout the Costa Blanca provide an English curriculum taught in English. Fees are generally much cheaper than the private schools in Barcelona or on the Costa del Sol. Some English International schools offer the Spanish speaking student the opportunity to sit the national Spanish “Bachillerato” exams. Many international private schools have mixed Spanish and foreign student bodies, e.g. one-third American or British students, one-third Spanish and one-third other nationalities, although they may be called American or British. French, Swiss and German private schools have Spanish pupils and pupils from many other countries. Private schools located in Marbella, Mallorca, Madrid, Barcelona and Sitges are among the most expensive. When choosing an international school the whole costs should be considered: School fees School materials Travelling by school bus or with one’s own car to and from the school School lunch Extra-curricular activities School uniforms Excursions Private lessons Summer program (free of chose) For an entire school career from the kindergarten up to the A level or International Baccalaureate one has to calculate for one kid with around 100.000 – 130.000 € in total, boarding facilities not included. The costs for further university career of 4-6 years also are not included. The university career may cost another 100.000 € or even more, living costs included. If you have to work hard to afford an international private school, you may consider the future risks of your business (or job) as well as the alternatives: a Spanish public school (today as good as in any other North European country) and a much better life with good money you can spend for your kids, your wife, for leisure and a better life quality. You may also consider the possibility to safe al lot of money for your life after the years of education and your “third age”.
