In the year 2007 around 59 million tourists came to Spain. 5.5 million tourists visited the “Comunidad Valencia”. Malaga Airport Passenger Traffic Malaga Airport: 13.590.803 visited the Costa del Sol (including Costa inland, and Costa Almeria); of course we have to deduce from that figure the business people and Andalusian people travelling wherever.

In an average each tourist spent 865 euros in total and 94 euros per day. In other words: Living on the Costa Blanca from October to Mai is wonderful for soul and mind; during the summer in most tourist resorts it’s a crazy and exciting life day and night.

The increasing tourism provoked an enormous development the last 20 years and influenced thoroughly in the Spanish economy and natural environments. Towns and villages which formerly relied on agriculture and fishing or salt industry now rely predominantly on tourism and related businesses.

Let’s be realistic: Tourism is all about business and only a tinny bit about Spanish culture and history. There are still innumerable wonderful places on the coasts areas, worth to live and to work here a healthy and peaceful life under 300-320 days sunshine and an agreeable climate.

The Costa del Sol is famous for its weather with approximately 300-320 days of sunshine per year and an average temperature of 22ºC. Even in winter one can expect sunny days with moderate temperature. Summer temperatures seldom fall below about 30ºC and can reach over 40º; in the middle of Nueva Andalucia for example up to 48-50º on the terrace in front of the wall (direct sunshine).

The Costa del Sol is associated with sun, beach and fun – rarely with culture. Most tourists come to the Costa del Sol to enjoy the sun, the warm climate all year long, the sea, the beaches, the weather, the day and nightlife – and rarely for history or culture.

The Costa del Sol is made for singles and couples, families and kids of all ages, all budgets, and all tastes. The passenger traffic at Malaga Airport shows us that the Costa del Sol and especially Marbella are far away to be simply a place for the rich and famous.
