Benalmadena Costa lies 15km south west of Malaga airport and 20 km from Malaga city, between between Fuengirola and Torremolinos. The town of Benalmádena, along with Arroyo de la Miel, Benalmadena Costa and Benalmadena Pueblo, make up the Municipality of Benalmadena. The highest peak here is the Cerro del Moro with almost 1000 m, from here one can have wonderful views across the Costa del Sol, Benalmadena and to the coast of North Africa and Gibraltar.

Benalmadena Costa is a purpose-built coastal resort extending 8 km along the coast which climbs steeply up into mountains behind. This whole section from Torremolinos going west to Fuengirola and encompassing Benalmadena is characterised by high-rise tourist developments.

Good quality tourism is reflected in the marina of Benalmadena which has been tastefully developed and is can handle more than 1,000 boats and yachts of all types. The marina is the focal point for Benalmadena's social scene. Puerto Marina is a synonym for entertainment, attractions, sports, leisure, lovely walks and numerous offers and activities.

From Benalmadena marina you can walk all the way along a flat promenade to Torremolinos with plenty of little bars and restaurants on the way for refreshments. Alternatively you can walk in the other direction along the promenade to the western edge of the resort.

Places if interests are: watch towers, Buddhist and Hindu temples, churches and museums. Benalmadena is rich on history as numerous civilisations from the muslims to the christians have crossed its land leaving their traces. Also of importance in Benalmadena is the Arqueological Museum and the caves of La Zorrera and Los Botijos. There is also the municipal Auditorium where events are taking place and the Centre of expositions.

Bil Bil Castle (Castillo Bil-Bil) is a Moorish-style residence built in the 1930s and has an exhibition room with a large number of mosaics, textures and paintings. The town often hosts event here. Other places of interests are: the castle of olomares en Honor a Cristóbal Colón; the Buddhist sculpture which is the highest in the western world, the gardens of Muro, The "child" of Benalmadena, a bronze statue representing the symbol of the town and the portals of the Parque de la Paloma and the watchtower of Torrebermeja.

There's plenty entertainment to amuse the kids, parents and the 18-20 brigade alike. Tivoli World amusement park in nearby Arroyo de la Miel has Wild West and flamenco shows and a cable-car ride. Equally popular are the Selwo Marina Dolphinarium and the Sealife Centre which has the biggest shark collection in Europe. There are water-sports facilities at the yacht club and plenty of golf courses in the vicinity. By night there is no end of bars and nightclubs and there is a casino at the Hotel Torrequebrada. The cable car from the coast up to the top of the mountain is a well worthwhile trip.

Nightlife: In the area of the Sol y Mar square, also known as the "24-hour Square" there's an active nightlife with the many clubs offering salsa dancing, DJs and live music on into the early hours.
